Do Jews Control the World? Thoughts On 'The Protocols of the Elders of Zion'
It was first published in Russian in 1903. I'm not an expert on all the arguments for and against the book's authenticity, but Wikipedia suggests the book is a Russian secret police fabrication. After reading it, I think I probably agree with Wikipedia.
The book claims to be a report on 24 Jewish strategies planned by a secret group of "Learned Elders" as part of a centuries old plan to overthrow Gentile society and establish a global Jewish monarchy. It outlines how Jews are working to undermine Gentiles, how they'll take power, and how the future Jewish government will operate.
The book claims Jews created the ideas of Enlightenment liberalism, a free press, democracy, and human rights to criticize and undermine the legitimacy of Gentile kings and the Christian church. Jews are also spreading moral degeneracy, financial chaos, and poverty in order to make Gentiles feel that their only chance of escaping perpetual dysfunction is to accept Jewish domination. The Jewish narrator claims that only the papacy, Jesuits, churches, and hereditary aristocracies have the ability to undermine their plans. The Free Masons are allegedly just a tool being used by Jews to control the most talented and well-connected Gentiles.
I think the book has attracted so much attention because it appears to predict several trends that have characterized Western Civilization's decline over the last century. It specifically predicts liberalism's devolution into immorality and social chaos. However, it also makes several predictions that have not come true, and the trends it does predict were already visible in 1903.
Among the book's biggest faults is the timeline for the founding of the alleged global Jewish monarchy. The narrator claims the establishment of this new state is "very close." He emphasizes that his Jewish co-conspirators are so completely in control of the world's gold that they can easily access any sum of money in just two days. One passage claims it may take "even a whole century" for the new Jewish dictatorship to be "definitely acknowledged." However, it's now been 123 years since the protocols were allegedly drafted and the global Jewish monarchy is nowhere in sight. If the Jews were in total control of the world in 1897 then what are they now waiting for? Our twenty-first century reality clashes hard with the book's repeated claims that nineteenth century Jews already controlled everything from ideology to economic depressions.
Around half the book reads like a delusional wish list about the future Jewish king and his policies. Other parts are devoted to childish boasting like "Gentiles are cattle," "Proof of the Jews' superiority of mind," and "God destined us to rule the world." The book seems badly organized, and it's sometimes difficult to tell whether a proposed policy is something the Jews have planned for the present or after they've "come into their kingdom."
Many alt-right figures have pushed the Protocols as evidence Jews are the world's shadow leaders against whom we should rebel. Weirdly, however, these same figures often claim white people should abandon Christianity and embrace ancient European paganism. They claim Christianity is just part of the grand Jewish conspiracy. However, this is directly contradicted by the Protocols' repeated assertions that Christianity is the greatest threat to their plans.
My take-a-way from this book is that it's unlikely Jews rule the world. However, just in case, the best resistance to their international conspiracy is to become a better Christian.
