Organic Food & Antivaxxers

Technology is increasingly taking over man's basic functions, and man is rebelling against this process. Man's daily tasks are being outsourced to complex processes that can't be understood. Your dinner probably comes from several different countries, and you have no idea how it ended up in front of you. This process is psychologically traumatic because humans now have nothing to do, and our instincts think we should be doing something. God created us to do things, especially things like growing food.

The backlash against our modern sedentary confusion manifests in the organic food movement in which people seek out foods untainted by inhuman and unnatural technology. Most people prefer knowing the organic farmer and farm they're buying from. Instinctively, people prefer that robots didn't spray their food with synthetic chemicals.

Similarly, anti-vaxxers don't understand the processes involved in creating modern vaccines (neither do I). They reject the unknown, because that's what humans instinctively do. They don't want unknown technology injected into their arm. Why would you let an unknown substance be injected into you? It's counterintuitive.

The proliferation of conspiracy theories makes sense in mass society because no single person can know what's going on. A thousand years ago, the basic processes of life were understood, and one's place in that process was understood. You grew food, you ate food, you gave food to the lord, and he protected you from bad people. The processes you didn't understand weren't under your control, or anyone's control. Humans were made to live this instinctual existence. Technological mass society is testing the limits of human instinct.
